What surfaced
A post on r/ONEPIECETCG this weekend asked whether other collectors were seeing white edging on cards pulled from third anniversary product, with the poster singling out their Ace. The distinction they drew matters: this reads to them as ink coverage that never made it onto the card at the factory, not the silvering that shows up after shuffling, sleeving, and general handling.
That is a print quality claim, not a play or errata claim. No manufacturer statement has accompanied it. Treat it as an unverified community observation until a wider sample builds, which is exactly how most Bandai print anomalies enter the conversation: one thread, then a dozen replies checking their own copies.
Why the market desk cares
Print defects cut two ways in this hobby. If the anomaly is widespread and cosmetic, it drags graded outcomes down across the print run and gently deflates high-end singles from the product. If it is rare and cleanly identifiable, a defect market forms and the affected copies trade at a premium detached from the base card entirely.
The deciding variable is scarcity, and scarcity is unknown right now. What we can say is that anniversary product sits in the part of the market where grading premiums do the heaviest lifting, so edge condition questions land harder there than they would on a common.
The sealed picture
We have no price rows tied to the specific Ace in question, so the closest read is sealed economics on the anniversary line. PRB02 currently prints a box market of $394.54 against $276 in expected value, an EV ratio of 0.70. That places it fourth on our leaderboard and squarely in the sub-1.0 territory where the sealed buyer is paying for the lottery ticket rather than the math.
| Set | Box market | EV | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| OP17 | $381.59 | $1,120 | 2.93 |
| OP15 | $253.26 | $220 | 0.87 |
| OP14 | $258.52 | $194 | 0.75 |
| PRB02 | $394.54 | $276 | 0.70 |
| OP11 | $651.26 | $442 | 0.68 |
Full table lives on the EV page. OP17 remains the outlier at 2.93, and nothing about a print defect thread changes that.
Elsewhere on the tape
The PRB02 numbering shows up in this week's losers via Roronoa Zoro (Round 1 Promo), down 53.9 percent to $97.11 as the Round 1 promo cohort corrects hard across the board. Monkey.D.Luffy (Round 1 Promo) fell 59.6 percent to $206.09 over the same stretch.
At the top end, the manga-art tier keeps grinding upward. Tony Tony.Chopper (EB01-006) (Manga) is up 25 percent to $3,000 and Monkey.D.Luffy (OP05-119) (Manga) moved 17.6 percent to $5,000. Both are cards where a millimeter of missing ink is the difference between a four-figure and five-figure outcome.
The Terminal take
One thread is a data point, not a trend. Until enough copies are checked to establish a rate, the only measurable exposure here is sealed: PRB02 at a 0.70 EV ratio on $394.54 boxes was already the weaker side of the math before anyone mentioned ink coverage, and a condition question does nothing to improve that arithmetic.
