A player posted on r/ONEPIECETCG on August 21 that they took down a pre-release event and walked away with the prize card, singling out a seven-cost Benn Beckman as the standout of the run. The post reads as a straightforward tournament report: play the event, win the event, collect the exclusive.

It is a small community item, but it lands on the exact seam of the market that has been the most violent all week. Event-distributed and promo-channel cards are where the price action is, and they are moving in both directions at once.

The promo tape is not calm

Our promo-adjacent movers for the week ending 2026-08-21 read like two different markets. Anniversary and event cards printed in tight quantities have swung dramatically, and the direction depends almost entirely on which print run you are holding.

The 3rd Anniversary Set pair are the week's two worst performers on our board, down 40.2% and 32.6% respectively. Meanwhile a different Sabo, the OP13-004 alternate art, is up 87.4%. Same character, same set code, opposite outcomes. Distribution channel is doing all the work here.

Whale watch

Five cards tripped our seaking severity threshold this week. Jinbe at $26.41 leads on the upside with that 88.4% move. On the downside, Tony Tony.Chopper (Gift Collection 2023) shed 28% to $194.29, and Nami (2025 New Year Event) gave back 22.2% to $41.73.

Not every event promo is bleeding, though. Tony Tony.Chopper (CS 25-26 Celebration Pack) added 19% to $126.24, and Sanji (Offline Regional 2023) [Participant] is up 17.7% to $41.51. Participation and celebration prints holding while gift-collection material sinks is a distribution story, not a character story.

Sealed context

If you are heading to an event and weighing whether to buy in with product, the sealed board still has one clear outlier. OP17 prints an EV ratio of 2.72, with a box market price of $363.79 against $988 of expected value. Nothing else on the leaderboard clears 1.00: OP15 sits at 0.80, OP14 at 0.72, OP11 at 0.68 on a $641.78 box, and PRB02 at 0.67. Full table lives on the EV page.

Also worth noting for anyone valuing older starter-deck staples: Monkey.D.Luffy (001) fell 31.4% to $46.03 and Nico Robin from ST01PRE dropped 28% to $25.69. Pre-release printings are not automatically insulated.

The Terminal take

Event-exclusive supply is the highest-variance corner of this market, and this week proves it in both directions: an 88.4% gainer and a 40.2% loser sitting on the same board, days apart. A prize card's value is set by how many were handed out and how many players showed up, not by the text on the card. Until attendance and distribution figures are public, treat every pre-release promo print as a thin, headline-sensitive line item.
