What happened

The complete OP-17 card list is now public, and the conversation on r/ONEPIECETCG has already moved past reveal-thread hype. A widely read thread asked players a simpler question: which existing decks actually gained the most, and what are people sleeving up rather than theorycrafting.

That is the correct question for gameplay. For the market desk, the reveal has a cleaner readout, because sealed pricing does not wait for tournament results.

The sealed math on OP-17

As of 2026-08-07, OP17 boxes carry a market price of $383.20 against an expected value of $860, an EV ratio of 2.24. That is the highest ratio on our EV board by a wide margin, and it is the kind of figure that only appears in the window between a set being revealed and its singles finding a floor.

Context matters. Every other set on the leaderboard sits below parity:

The gap between 2.24 and 0.89 is the gap between preorder-era singles pricing and mature, post-release singles pricing. Thin listing depth on early chase cards inflates EV inputs; sealed prices move slower. Treat the OP17 line as a snapshot of an immature market, not a standing arbitrage.

Where the week's actual money moved

While the reveal absorbed attention, the sharpest price action was in promos, in both directions. The Round 1 promo group had a brutal week: Monkey.D.Luffy (Round 1 Promo) is at $204.04, down 60% over seven days, with Sanji (Round 1 Promo) at $47.35 (down 58.4%), Nico Robin (Round 1 Promo) at $73.12 (down 54.6%), Brook (Round 1 Promo) at $37.02 (down 54.2%) and Roronoa Zoro (Round 1 Promo) at $100.98 (down 53.4%).

On the other side, Koby (Treasure Cup) gained 50.2% to $599.90 and also flagged as a seaking-severity whale sighting on a 20.1% move. Monkey.D.Luffy (091) (Offline Regional 2024 Vol. 3) [Finalist] added 32.3% to $961.59, and When You're at Sea You Fight against Pirates!! (2025 Pirates League Store Qualifier) led the gainers at 61.3% to $53.37.

Anniversary singles participated too: Viola rose 42.4% to $53.22 and San-Gorou rose 33.6% to $54.05.

Why the two stories connect

A new set reveal reprices decks before it reprices cards. The promo tape above shows what happens once supply and demand catch up: alt-art event promos tied to formats can halve in a week, while scarce older event cards run in the opposite direction. Nothing in OP-17's numbers yet tells us which of those paths its chase cards take.

The Terminal take

The community thread is asking about decks; the data is asking about depth. A 2.24 EV ratio on a set that is barely out of reveal is a statement about how few OP-17 singles have real price history, not a verdict on the set's strength. The Round 1 promo cohort, down between 53.4% and 60% in seven days, is the reminder of how fast One Piece card prices reset once listings thicken.
