The ask

A thread posted to r/ONEPIECETCG on August 8 was about as short as community news gets: a player asking whether anyone had a deck list for the purple Luffy build out of OP17. No spice, no drama, just a builder looking for a starting point.

That is worth reporting for one reason. Deck list requests are the earliest, least sophisticated demand signal in this hobby, and they arrive before price action does. Somebody who needs a list will shortly need the singles that fill it.

What OP17 looks like on the tape

The set itself is the loudest number on our screen this week. OP17 boxes are marking at $371.76 against an expected value of $1,120, an EV ratio of 3.01. That is the highest ratio in our EV table by a very wide margin.

For context, second place is OP15 at 0.88 on a $253.06 box, followed by OP14 at 0.75 and PRB02 at 0.70. OP11 is the priciest box in the group at $651.26 and still only prints 0.68.

A ratio above 3 on a brand new set is almost always a function of thin, early, wide-spread single prices rather than a genuine free lunch. Newly released chase cards get marked high before supply settles, and EV models take those marks at face value. Treat the 3.01 as a statement about how unsettled OP17 singles are, not as a print-money button.

The singles that matter

The headline card in the set on our data is Shanks (020) (Alternate Art) at $299.99, an L rarity alt art doing the heavy lifting in that EV figure.

Below it, the SR tier is flat and orderly. Kaido (062) and Shanks (022) both mark at $29.99. Identical prices across two different SRs is the signature of a set that has not been stress tested by competitive play yet. Once lists like the one that thread was asking for stabilize, that flatness usually breaks in both directions.

Elsewhere this week

The wider board is being run by promos, not by new sets. Koby (Treasure Cup) is up 50.2 percent to $599.90 and Trafalgar Law (Online Regional Finalist Card Set 2025 Vol.2) added 32.5 percent to $300, both flagged at seaking severity in our whale feed. Monkey.D.Luffy (091) (Offline Regional 2024 Vol. 3) [Finalist] is up 32.3 percent to $961.59.

The other side is uglier and also promo-driven. Monkey.D.Luffy (Round 1 Promo) is down 60 percent to $204.02 and Sanji (Round 1 Promo) shed 64.9 percent to $39.42. Fresh promo prints reprice hard once actual supply hits.

A deck list request is not a catalyst, but it is a timestamp: OP17 is entering the phase where players, not openers, set prices. The 3.01 EV ratio and the twin $29.99 SR marks both say the same thing, which is that this set has not found its equilibrium. Watch whether Kaido (062) and Shanks (022) stay tied.
