Prerelease Hype Threads Are Free. Box EV Is Not.

A community thread crowning a prerelease MVP arrives while no set in our EV table returns more than 77 cents on the sealed dollar.

By OnePiece Terminal Desk · October 25, 2026

A thread on r/ONEPIECETCG declared a single card the likely most valuable player of the upcoming prerelease, which is the oldest ritual in this game: one player reads a spoiler, imagines the limited format, and plants a flag. The flag costs nothing. The sealed product it points at does, and right now the sealed math is not generous anywhere on our board.

What prerelease hype actually prices

Prerelease MVP calls are limited-format calls, and limited format value rarely survives contact with constructed demand. The card that wins a prerelease pod is usually a cheap, efficient body that nobody sleeves two weeks later. The cards that hold price are the chase slots, and those are priced by the box, not by the draft table.

That is why the useful number here is the EV ratio, not the hype. OP11 sits at a $547.37 box market against $422 in expected value, the strongest ratio we track. OP14 is close behind at 0.75, with a $258.97 box and $194 of EV. OP15 comes in at 0.71 on a $254.18 box.

Set Box market EV Ratio
OP11 $547.37 $422 0.77
OP14 $258.97 $194 0.75
OP15 $254.18 $179 0.71
PRB02 $375.77 $257 0.68
EB03 $307.59 $185 0.60

The full table lives on the EV page. Nothing on it clears the sealed price, which is the normal state of the world and worth remembering before a prerelease weekend convinces anyone otherwise.

The cards it touches

No card in the thread maps to a listing in our database yet, so the honest answer is that this event touches no ticker directly. The closest live read is Lucky.Roux, shown above, which is up 75.8 percent over seven days to $23.14 and sits inside PRB02, a 0.68 EV ratio product. That is what a singles-led run looks like when the box underneath it has not moved: the chart goes vertical, the sealed math barely blinks.

The tape this week

Kouzuki Hiyori (Alternate Art) is the other big riser, up 62.1 percent to $28.66. At the top of the market, Tony Tony.Chopper (SP) added 33.2 percent and now prints at $6,835.94, while Kyros (SP) gained 25.1 percent to $529.

The promo side went the other way, hard. Trafalgar Law (CS 26-27 Event Pack) fell 52.1 percent to $46.78 and Monkey.D.Luffy (Store Championship Trophy Card) dropped 45.5 percent to $708.21. Kouzuki Oden (Regionals Finalist Card Set 26-27 Vol.2) is down 41 percent at $107.59. Event-distribution supply landing all at once does this.

The read

Two markets are running in parallel. Singles with a story attached are moving in double and triple digits of percentage, while event-pack promos reprice downward as distribution catches up and sealed boxes sit below their contents across every set we track.

A prerelease MVP call is a format opinion, not a price signal, and it will take weeks of actual results before any of it shows up on a chart. Until then the measurable thing is the 0.60 to 0.77 band on the EV table, and it has not widened for anybody.
