Players on r/ONEPIECETCG are debating Ace versus the new Newgate leader. The set behind that debate is one month old and down 36% annualized.
OP17: the set priced at 2.5x sticker
A thread on r/ONEPIECETCG this week asked a simple deck question, Red Ace or the OP17 Newgate leader, and got the usual split answer. The more interesting number sits behind the question: a sealed OP17 box is marked at $296.61 against a $119.76 MSRP, a 2.5x multiple one month after release. The three-month annualized read on that box is -36%, so the premium has been shrinking while the format debate has been heating up.

That combination, high multiple and negative trend, is what early-set pricing usually looks like. Product is still flowing, chase cards have not settled, and the people arguing about leaders on Reddit are the same people cracking packs to find them.
Inside the box
Expected rip value on OP17 sits at $170 against the $296.61 box, an EV ratio of 0.57. Every sealed box is negative EV by construction, so a sub-1 ratio is the default state, not a red flag. What 0.57 says is that OP17 is currently on the expensive end of the ladder: the OP15 box leads the EV board at 0.75, with OP11 at 0.72 and OP14 at 0.69. Cost per pack works out to $12.36.
The top of the set is where the money concentrates.
The Xebec SEC above is sitting at its all-time high, which for a one-month-old card means the high is simply the current print. The Luffy super leader tells a different story: flat on the week, down 28.9% over thirty days, and $2,500 at its peak. The chart on that one is the clearest picture of early-set decay in the whole set.
Worth noting for the Newgate crowd: the playable Shanks (020) (Alternate Art) is up 92.6% in seven days to $51.34, the only OP17 card in this week's top five gainers. Meta chatter moves the $50 cards long before it moves the $1,500 ones.
The graded side
PSA population on OP17 is zero. One month post-release, nothing has come back from grading yet, which means no gem rate and no supply picture on the high end. The graded premium multiple currently reads 2.6x.
You can see it in the two cards that do have PSA 10 marks. The Luffy super leader carries a $3,450 PSA 10 against a 1.9x multiple, and the Shanks manga rare shows $3,500 at 2.3x. Those are thin marks on thin volume, not settled comps.
Long-term read
OP17 scores 2 out of 10 on the Long-Term Score and carries the label Unproven. That is what a one-month-old set with no graded population, a -36% three-month annualized box trend, and a 0.57 EV ratio looks like in the model. Nothing in it is a verdict on the set's ceiling, only a statement that there is not yet enough history to score.
The Reddit thread will resolve itself when the results roll in. The box math will resolve later and more slowly. If you want to compare OP17 against the rest of the ladder, the EV page and the screener hold the full board.
