A community push to ban a Sabo pairing before EB05 lands arrives while the set's boxes trade at $355.36 against a $119.76 MSRP.
EB05: a $355.36 box against $119.76 of MSRP
The format conversation this week came from the collector side, not the official one. A thread on r/ONEPIECETCG argued that a Sabo leader paired with a Yamato and Zoro package has become consistent enough that it deserves a pre-EB05 restriction, which is the kind of post that usually precedes a run on whatever the next set offers. The next set, for the record, is already priced like a problem: EB05 boxes are changing hands at $355.36 against a listed MSRP of $119.76.
> 3x · the multiple EB05 boxes trade at over MSRP
That is an opening multiple of 3, with the set at zero months since release and effectively no price history behind it. There is no three-month or one-year CAGR on EB05 yet, which is exactly what you would expect from a product this new. The chart above has nothing to smooth.
Inside the box
Rip economics are blunt. Expected value on an EB05 box runs $150 against that $355.36 market price, an EV ratio of 0.42. Every sealed product in this game is negative EV by design, so a ratio under 1 is the normal state of the world, not a scandal. What matters is the distance: 0.42 is thin next to the current board leaders on the EV page, where OP11 sits at 0.75 and OP15 at 0.72.
Cost per pack works out to $14.81. Here is what the singles side currently supports.
Both cards are at their all time highs, which is trivially true for a set with no history. The top end of the chase list is a $24.99 SR. That is the number doing the heavy lifting in a $150 EV figure, and it explains the gap to boxes better than any narrative about Sabo does.
The graded side
There is nothing here, and that is the honest answer. Total PSA population across EB05 stands at 0. No gem rate, no graded premium multiple, no estimate of boxes already opened. Submissions have not cycled back yet, so anyone pricing a slabbed EB05 card is pricing a guess.
That vacuum matters for the format story too. If a Sabo pairing ban or restriction does arrive, the graded market will have no baseline to reprice against, only raw singles and a very young sealed quote.
Long-term read
Our Long-Term Score for EB05 is 0 out of 10, labeled Unproven. That is not a judgment on the cards. The score leans on realized price history, graded supply, and durable demand signals, and EB05 currently supplies none of the three at zero months out.
For comparison, EB03 carries an EV ratio of 0.59 on a $316.67 box and PRB02 sits at 0.67 on $377.60. Those are sets with tape behind them. EB05's premium is entirely forward-looking, built on expectations about what the set does to a format that players are already asking to be adjusted. Watch the singles in the screener as the first real EB05 prints settle; that is where the 3x multiple either gets justified or gets corrected.
