The event

A player posted to r/ONEPIECETCG on August 17 asking which purple Enel list is currently the strongest entry point into the OP17 metagame, sharing a draft build and inviting corrections. It is the most ordinary kind of thread on that subreddit, and also the most reliable early signal we get: when a leader starts generating "which 50 do I run" posts rather than "is this leader good" posts, the archetype has moved from theory to shopping list.

We do not have an Enel price row in this week's pull, so we are not going to pretend to price the leader or its staples. What we can price is the environment those decks are being built for, and the set everyone is opening to find pieces.

OP17 is the expensive part of the conversation

The three OP17 leaders our board is tracking are all sitting in the same tier, and it is not a cheap one.

Card Number Price
Shanks (020) (Alternate Art) OP17-020 $299.99
Monkey.D.Luffy (Alternate Art) OP17-079 $289.99
Rocks.D.Xebec (039) (Alternate Art) OP17-039 $289

That clustering between $289 and $299.99 is what a fresh, in-demand set looks like before supply catches up. It also explains why a purple deck asking mostly for commons and uncommons is an attractive on-ramp: the format's headline cost is concentrated in a handful of alternate art leaders, not in the 50-card body of a ramp deck.

The box math

OP17 is currently the outlier on our expected value board. Sealed boxes are marking at $342.86 against a modeled EV of $1,007, an EV ratio of 2.94. Nothing else on the list is close: OP15 sits at 0.79, OP14 at 0.73, PRB02 at 0.68 and OP11 at 0.67. Every one of those is below 1.00, which is the normal state of affairs for sealed product.

A ratio near 3 is a statement about hit prices, not about the set being generous. When three chase leaders are pinned around $289 to $300, EV models get loud. Ratios like that tend to compress as prices settle, and the full board is on the EV page.

What actually moved this week

The seven-day gainers list is mostly older-set leaders and promos rather than anything OP17. Sabo (004) (Alternate Art) leads at $32.35, up 77.3%. Sanji (Round 1 Promo) is at $47.93, up 33.6%. Perona sits at $22.54, up 28.9%, Vista (TR) at $32.03, up 25.2%, and Portgas.D.Ace (001) (Alternate Art) at $69.04, up 24.3%.

On the other side, Nico Robin (Event Pack Vol. 9) is down 48.5% to $30.92, and Monkey.D.Luffy (001) from ST01 is off 28.2% to $49.89.

The Terminal take

Deck-help threads are demand telemetry, and the demand being expressed here is for a cheap seat at an expensive table. OP17's leaders holding a tight $289 to $299.99 band while the set's box EV ratio prints 2.94 tells you the value is stacked at the very top of the rarity ladder, which is exactly why budget purple builds get asked about. Watch whether that ratio holds when the next wave of boxes clears.
