A community King brew put OP17 back in the feed. The sealed tape says boxes trade at $296.61 against a $119.76 MSRP with a three-month CAGR of -36%.
A deckbuilder on r/ONEPIECETCG posted a first draft of an OP17 King list this week and asked the room to tear it apart, which is what the room does best. Brewing threads are the earliest demand signal a new set gets, arriving well before results data. The problem is that OP17's sealed tape has been moving the other way the whole time.
> $296.61 · what a sealed OP17 box costs on the open market today
OP17 and the number that matters: 2.5
That is the multiple of MSRP a booster box now commands, against a list price of $119.76. Put differently, packs are changing hands at an implied $12.36 apiece. One month past release, OP17 is already showing a three-month CAGR of -36%, which is the ordinary shape of a hyped set bleeding out its preorder premium as supply lands.
The chart above tells the same story at the single-card level. The set's headline Rocks.D.Xebec (118) (Super Alternate Art) sits at its all-time high of $6,100, while the second-most-expensive card in the set has given back 28.9% over thirty days.
Inside the box
Rip EV on OP17 is $170 against that box price, an EV ratio of 0.57. Every sealed product is negative EV by design, so a ratio below 1 is not an indictment; it is the house edge. What 0.57 tells you is how wide that edge currently is relative to peers. The leaders on our EV page are running between 0.61 and 0.75, so OP17 is opening at a steeper discount to its own contents than the usual set.
One chase card carries most of the weight, and the next four cluster between roughly $1,100 and $1,800. That is a top-heavy distribution, which is precisely why the average rip lands where it does.
The graded side
PSA population for OP17 is 0. Not thin, not early: zero, because the set is a month old and nothing has cleared the queue yet. That leaves no gem rate to quote and no way to calibrate print quality.
What we do have is a graded premium multiple of 2.6 across the set, plus two live PSA 10 marks. The Luffy leader alt shows $3,450 in a 10 against $1,776.47 raw, a 1.9x multiple, while the Shanks manga rare shows $3,500 versus $1,502.19 raw, or 2.3x. Those spreads will tighten or widen fast once the first pop reports land. Track the openings on our destruction page.
Long-term read
OP17 carries a Long-Term Score of 2 out of 10, labelled Unproven. The inputs are what you would expect for a one-month-old set: no grading history, no established floor, a sharply negative short-window return, and an EV ratio that reflects aggressive early pricing rather than settled demand.
Meanwhile the format is doing what formats do. Shanks (020) (Alternate Art) ran 92.6% in seven days to $51.34, which is the kind of move that comes from lists, not from sealed. Deck brews move singles first. The box follows later, or it does not. Run the set through the screener if you want the full ladder.
