OP17 Set Check: A $305 Box, 2.5x MSRP, and a Leader Down 18.2%

A custom Elbaph Luffy deckbox surfaced on r/ONEPIECETCG. The OP17 tape underneath it is less decorative: a 0.46 EV ratio and a 2 of 10 long-term score.

Someone on r/ONEPIECETCG has been printing custom deck boxes sized for an Elbaph Luffy list, 50 double-sleeved cards plus 10 DON!!, snap closure, files for sale rather than free. That is a reasonable proxy for how committed the player base is to the OP17 era. The price tape is less committed: the super leader alternate art Luffy is down 18.2% over seven days and 20.5% over thirty.

OP17 and the number 0.46

Sealed OP17 trades at $305 against a $119.76 MSRP, which works out to $12.71 per pack at retail-adjusted cost. Two months past release, the three-month annualized return sits at -67%. That is normal shape for a set still bleeding print-run supply into the market, not a verdict.

The secondary market is doing what secondaries do at this stage: the ceiling chases are holding, the mid-tier is giving back. The chart above on the leader shows the gap between a $2,500 all-time high and where it prints now.

Inside the box

Rip expected value is $140 against the $305 box, an EV ratio of 0.46. Every box in this game is negative EV by design, so a sub-1 reading is the baseline, not an alarm. What matters is the spread: 0.46 is well below the current leaders on the EV board, where OP11 sits at 0.75 and OP14 at 0.73.

Card No. Price
Rocks.D.Xebec (Super Alt Art) OP17-118 $6,100
Shanks (Manga) OP17-022 $1,486.69
Monkey.D.Luffy (Super Leader Alt Art) OP17-079 $1,421.46
Edward.Newgate (Manga) OP17-005 $1,076.92
Kaido (Manga) OP17-062 $1,062.45

Five cards above $1,000 is a top-heavy distribution. Xebec is flat on the week and sitting at its own all-time high. The manga Shanks is off 1% on both the seven and thirty day windows, which for this stage of a set cycle counts as stability.

The graded side

PSA population across OP17 is 0. Not low, zero. No gem rate exists yet because nothing has come back, and estimated boxes opened is unmeasurable for the same reason.

The graded premium multiple across the set models at 1.6x, consistent with what the individual tiles show: 1.4x on Xebec at $8,300 in PSA 10, 1.5x on Shanks, and 1.8x on the Luffy leader at $2,625. The wider gap on the leader is the usual tell for a card whose raw price has moved faster than its graded comp.

Long-term read

OP17 scores 2 out of 10 on the Long-Term Score, labeled Unproven. That label is doing the heavy lifting. With two months of history, no graded population, and a steeply negative three-month annualized figure, the model has almost nothing to grade except youth and a falling tape.

The deckbox builders are betting on Elbaph Luffy as a format fixture. The set data cannot confirm or deny that yet. Track the structure through the screener and the sealed side on the destruction tracker as pop reports start to populate.
