A newer player posted a Blackbeard decklist to r/ONEPIECETCG this week asking whether it was a sane first build for locals. The leader in question lives in OP09, Emperors of the New World, a set now 22 months old and trading like a vintage item rather than a playable supply line. A sealed box of OP09 runs $640.07 against a $107.76 MSRP, a multiple of 5.9.
> 195% · OP09's one-year annualized return on sealed boxes
That one-year figure is the headline, but the recent tape is softer: the three-month annualized rate sits at -20%. Both things are true at once, which is what a maturing set usually looks like on the chart above.
Inside the box
Rip EV on OP09 is $225 against that $640.07 box price, an ev_ratio of 0.35. Every sealed product is negative EV by design, so a ratio under 1 is the normal state of the world; 0.35 simply says the scarcity premium on sealed OP09 has run well ahead of what the average box actually contains. For contrast, the current EV leaders top out around 0.76. At $26.67 per pack, this is a collector's box, not a singles-sourcing box.
The singles that drive what little EV there is:
| Card | No. | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Gol.D.Roger (Manga) | OP09-118 | $5,500 |
| Monkey.D.Luffy (119) (Manga) | OP09-119 | $2,699 |
| Marshall.D.Teach (093) (Manga) | OP09-093 | $2,000.99 |
| Shanks (004) (Manga) | OP09-004 | $1,795 |
| Buggy (051) (Manga) | OP09-051 | $1,650 |
The Teach manga SR, the card most directly tied to the decklist conversation, is flat over both 7 and 30 days at its all-time high of $2,000.99. Decklist chatter is not a price catalyst at that tier. The playable Blackbeard pieces sit far below it, and one OP09 parallel did move: Buggy (042) (Parallel) is up 32.5% on the week to $49.95.
