A community thread about playing OP05 Belo Betty in the OP17 format sends us back to the tape on a set trading at 9.8 times its MSRP.
A thread on r/ONEPIECETCG this week asked a simple question: does Belo Betty out of OP05 still have a job in the OP17 format. The deck-building answer belongs to players. The pricing answer belongs to the sealed market, and there OP05 has long since stopped behaving like a playable set and started behaving like an asset.

OP05: 9.8 times MSRP, 34 months on
OP05 carried a $107.76 MSRP. It now clears at 9.8 times that figure, good for a 127% annualized return measured from MSRP and 289% over the trailing year. Thirty four months after release, the per-pack cost to rip is $44.21.
The near term is softer: the three month annualized change is negative 6%. That is the shape of a set whose supply story is finished and whose demand is now set by collectors rather than by format churn.
Inside the box
Expected value on an OP05 box is $152 against the $1,060.99 market price, an EV ratio of 0.14. Every sealed product is negative EV by design, so a ratio under 1 is normal, but 0.14 is far past the point where ripping is a pricing decision. You are buying sealed OP05 for the sealed OP05, not for the contents. Compare it to OP17, one month old, $314.53 a box against $155 of EV for a 0.49 ratio. Full rankings live on the EV page.
The manga Luffy above is the anchor, currently under its $6,100 all time high. The manga Law is the live one: up 9.7% over 30 days and printing at its own all time high.
The graded side
OP05 has 47,665 cards in the PSA population with an 89% gem rate, and graded copies carry a 2.6 times premium over raw. We estimate 295,488 boxes have already been opened, which you can pick apart on the destruction page.
The top two chase cards diverge sharply once slabbed. PSA 10 manga Luffy runs $15,900, a 2.8 multiple on raw, with 1,342 copies graded at an 87% gem rate. The gold-stamped Luffy multiplies 3.2 times into a $15,850 PSA 10. Manga Law, by contrast, grades into $2,075.75, a multiple of just 1.2 across 1,026 graded copies at an 88% gem rate. Grading arbitrage on that card is thin.
Long-term read
OP05 scores 9 out of 10 on our Long-Term Score, labelled Generational. What drives it: three years of distance from print, a 289% one year annualized figure, a deep graded population that still supports a 2.6 times premium, and two chase cards clearing $4,999.99 or better.
OP17 scores 2 out of 10, labelled Unproven, with zero graded population and a negative 16% three month annualized print. That gap is the whole point. The Reddit thread was about whether an old card still has a seat at the table in a new format. The chart above shows a set whose sealed price stopped caring about that question a long time ago.
