Two New Starter Decks Surface, and the Beginner-Deck Tape Is Already Soft

Community chatter points to two fresh starter decks led by Luffy and Crocodile, landing in a week when beginner-deck promos and sealed EV both look heavy.

Cheap entry points arrive into an expensive week

Word of two new One Piece starter decks, fronted by Luffy and Crocodile leaders, circulated through the collector community over the weekend after surfacing on r/OnePieceTCG. Product announcements like this rarely move singles on day one. What they do move, eventually, is the reprint risk attached to every staple those decks might carry, and the floor price of the format's cheapest on-ramp.

> $26.25 · a beginner-deck promo after a 47.5% weekly drawdown

The tension is timing. Starter decks exist to pull new players in at a low price, and they arrive this week into a market where the sealed math is not flattering and where deck-adjacent promos have just had their worst stretch in months.

The cards it touches

Nothing in the announcement maps to a confirmed singles list yet, so there is no decklist to price. The closest live read is the promo tier built around beginner product. Streusen (Beginners Deck Party [ST-31] - [ST-36]) (Winner) sits at $26.25 after shedding 47.5% on the week, the single worst seven-day print on our loser board and flagged at seaking severity on the whale screen.

That is the pattern worth watching. Starter product is distributed in volume by design, and the scarcity premium on anything tied to it tends to be the first thing to go when supply expectations shift.

On the sealed side, the current EV leaders give a sense of what a new buyer is choosing between. OP11 carries a $566.03 box market against $428 of expected value, a 0.76 ratio and the best on the board. OP15 is next at 0.72 on a $256.53 box, then OP14 at 0.70. Full table lives on the EV page.

The tape this week

The promo complex is doing most of the work in both directions, which is typical for a week without a new set drop.

Card Price 7d
Koby (Treasure Cup) $322.76 -46.2%
Usopp (3-on-3 Cup) [Participant] $140.20 -36.3%
O-Nami (CS 25-26 Event Pack) $140.07 -28.2%
Shirahoshi (CS 26-27 Event Pack Finalist Ver.) $61.71 +56.9%
Silvers Rayleigh (Alternate Art) $26.95 +47.5%

The gainers are event-pack scarcity and a playable alt art. The losers are tournament promos with thin order books, where a handful of fills can reprice the whole line. Note that Koby at $322.76 and the Usopp participant card are both carrying three-figure prices through drops of that size, so the absolute dollars at risk per copy are real even if the volume is not.

The read

Starter decks are a volume product, and volume products do two things to a market: they widen the player base and they flatten the price of whatever they contain. Until a decklist exists, neither effect can be priced.

What the chart above and the table underneath it show is a market already discounting beginner-adjacent paper before the new decks have a release date. The sealed EV ratios, topping out at 0.76, say the same thing from the other end. New entrants are not being asked to pay up for access right now.
