Mihawk's Ban Prints a 54.2% Drawdown, and the Community Wants Imu Next

A Reddit thread asking why Imu survived Bandai's ban list ran straight into the tape: the OP14 Mihawk alt art is this week's worst performer.

Bandai's latest restriction announcement pulled the Mihawk leader out of competitive rotation, and a thread on r/ONEPIECETCG immediately turned it into a broader argument: if a leader that flattened an entire attribute earned the axe after three sets, why did Imu ever get a pass for doing something similar to a core mechanic? The debate is a rules-committee question. The price move is not.

The cards it touches

Dracule Mihawk - OP14-020 (Alternate Art) sits at $29.42, the single largest seven-day decline in our loser table. The chart above shows the shape of it: a card that traded as a format pillar and repriced as a collectible in roughly a week. That is what a leader ban does to a chase alt when the competitive bid evaporates in one announcement.

The second-worst performer is unrelated to the ban but worth noting for context on how broad the week's downside was: Monkey.D.Luffy (041) (Alternate Art) is off 37.1% to $27.56. Two of the format's most recognizable alt arts printing thirty-plus percent drawdowns in the same seven days is not a Mihawk-specific story.

Set level, OP14 carries a box market of $265.03 against $182 of expected value, a 0.69 ratio that ranks third on our EV board. That number was computed on singles pricing that now includes a halved Mihawk alt, so the ratio has already absorbed some of the damage rather than pointing at future damage.

The tape this week

The upside was concentrated in cards with no connection to the ban list. Gecko Moria (086) (Alternate Art) leads at $20.06 after a 120.4% week, our largest gain and flagged at seaking severity in whale sightings. Rocks.D.Xebec (118) (Alternate Art) is at $66.06, up 86.6%, and Shanks (020) (Alternate Art) at $51.16, up 97.5%.

Card Price 7d
Gecko Moria (086) AA $20.06 +120.4%
Smoker (001) Parallel $32.69 +99.9%
Shanks (020) AA $51.16 +97.5%
Rocks.D.Xebec (118) AA $66.06 +86.6%
Dracule Mihawk OP14-020 AA $29.42 -54.2%

Smoker (001) (Parallel) rounds it out at $32.69, up 99.9%. Four of the five largest gainers nearly doubled or better, which tells you capital did not leave the market this week. It moved.

The read

The Imu argument is a fairness argument, and fairness arguments do not clear on our tape. What does clear is the mechanical relationship: a leader ban is the fastest repricing event in this game, faster than a set rotation and far faster than a reprint. Mihawk's alt art went from format tax to art piece in the span of one announcement window.

If the community read is correct and Bandai's threshold for intervention has genuinely tightened, the relevant exposure is not Mihawk, which has already taken its hit. It is whatever is currently dominant and has not. The market has now shown, in a single seven-day print, what that adjustment costs.
