EB05 Set Check: Boxes at 2.2x MSRP While a Buggy Player Waits

A Reddit thread asking whether to buy an EB05 Alvida now or wait is really a question about a zero-month-old set trading at 2.2x MSRP.

A player on r/ONEPIECETCG posted on November 1 asking a very practical question: buy the EB05 Alvida now for a Buggy build, or wait a week and hope the number comes down. We do not carry a tracked line on that card yet, which is itself the answer to most of the question. EB05 is zero months old, and everything attached to it, including the sealed product above, is still finding a floor.

EB05 at 2.2x MSRP

EB05 boxes are changing hands at 2.2 times their $119.76 MSRP, which works out to $11.21 per pack at today's sealed price. There is no annualized return to quote: with zero months since release, any CAGR figure would be noise dressed up as analysis, and our model correctly refuses to print one.

That multiple is the single most useful datapoint for anyone pricing an EB05 single this week. Sealed above double MSRP means supply is still rationed, and singles out of a rationed set are priced off scarcity rather than play demand.

Inside the box

Rip EV sits at $333 against that $268.99 box, an EV ratio of 1.24. Every box in this hobby is negative EV by design, so a ratio under 1 is the normal state of the world. A reading above 1 almost always means early, thin single prices are propping up the model before the market has absorbed real print volume.

In other words, treat 1.24 as a measurement of illiquidity, not a free lunch. The top of the set is doing the heavy lifting:

Card Number Price
Nico Robin (010) (Super Leader Alternate Art) EB05-010 $1,157.25
Shirahoshi (Manga) EB05-014 $887
Nami (055) (Kentaro Yabuki) (Gold Stamped) EB05-055 $812
Boa Hancock (ST17-004) (SP) ST17-004 $645.67
Nami (OP01-016) (SP) OP01-016 $533.79

The Robin alt art has already printed an all-time high of $1,500, so the chase slot has given back ground from its peak. The gold stamped Nami, by contrast, is sitting at its own all-time high of $812, which is what a card looks like when nobody has had time to decide what it is worth.

The graded side

PSA population for EB05 is 0. No gem rate, no graded premium multiple, no estimated boxes opened. Grading submissions lag release by months, so this is expected rather than alarming, but it does mean one of the usual sanity checks on a set's true print volume is unavailable.

Until pop reports start landing, the only read on how much EB05 has actually been opened is sealed pricing, and sealed pricing says: not much. You can watch the same gap develop on the destruction tracker as submissions arrive.

Long-term read

Our Long-Term Score for EB05 is 1 out of 10, labelled Unproven. That is not a verdict on the cards. It is the mechanical result of having no price history, no grading data, and no distance from release to measure against. Scores move once there is something to score.

For the original question about a mid-rarity Alvida, the honest framing is that singles from a zero-month set move on allocation, not on a weekly cycle. Compare EB05's 1.24 ratio against the rest of the field on the EV page, or screen the set's full roster on the screener, and decide what the deck is worth to you.
